HOW TO WASH YOUR HAIR W/ A SOAP BAR

Using a natural soap bar to wash your hair is simple, but there are a few ideas to consider to prevent your hair from drying out.
Here are our tips:
If you have been using a shampoo and conditioner with silicones, wash your hair with the shampoo multiple times, to remove any buildup- and then do not use conditioner. Try a conditioner that does not contain silicones, that way there will not be any buildup.
Don't over wash. Only wash when there is actual oil on your scalp. Usually 1-2 times per week is enough. I love to water-wash in between to stay fresh.
On wash day, apply an oil to your roots and ends to deeply moisturize your scalp and hair. Our top recommendation is WILD SERUM because rosemary and nettle encourage hair growth. However, you can use any of your preferred oils, such as argan, jojoba, or sweet almond, which are all popular options!
If you are prone to itchy scalp and/or dandruff- we have created 2 products for that! TONER TIME & GENTLE CLEANSER. Otherwise, try apple cider vinegar, aloe, honey, and/or rosemary tea.. a treatment/mask on wash day will reset your scalp pH and support a healthy microbiome.
I like to use Gentle Cleanser on my scalp before I wash with soap, especially if I did an oil mask. It hydrates the skin with aloe and honey, plus loosens grime well and zaps dandruff with tea tree.
I like to mist Toner Time on my scalp and hair shafts after I towel dry, it detangles and resets pH. I find the minerals in the salt bring strength to my hair waves. I also use Toner Time pretty well daily to refreshen my scalp and style hair inbetween washes.
Create a lather with your hands and warm water, concentrating on your scalp rather than the ends of your hair. The suds will clean the ends as they rinse down. Focus on cleaning your scalp versus cleaning your hair, since water alone cleans hair well.
Have a pH balancer like NIH Toner Time, or a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse. Apple cider vinegar is a detangler and contains both enzymes and probiotic bacteria to reset the environment.
Towel dry your hair and then apply a serum or wax to your ends to prevent fly-away and style your hair. Our favourite is BASIC ALL USE or Quick Wax. Our top seller and fan favourite is FLOWER SERUM. Any of your favourite oils can work here though, just apply a small amount, or if you are unsure, wait until your hair is dry so you can tell how weighed down your hair will be.
Between washes, maintain moisturized by misting hair and scalp with filtered water, like I mentioned above, I use our Toner Time. To really prolong your washes manage oil with a simple dry shampoo made with arrowroot powder, or to be honest, I use our daughters baby powder- which is just pure corn starch. If you have dark coloured hair, I have seen people add cacao or cinnamon powder into a starch. In the hot of summer try water rinsing your hair with water but without washing.. swimming anyone?
Why choose to shampoo with a bar of soap?

For travellers, less to carry.
Less clutter, the shelf in my shower is for a plant!
Our handcrafted soaps are moisturizing and contain nutritent-rich plants and healthy fats to nourish during each wash.
